Ellipsoidal head

This is also known as a 2:1 oval head. This head shape is more economical because the height of the head is only a quarter of its diameter. Its radius varies between the major axis and the minor axis.

Hemispherical head

A sphere is the ideal shape for the head because the pressure in the container is evenly distributed over the surface of the head. The head radius (R) is equal to the radius of the cylindrical part of the container.

Torispherical head

These have a disc head with a fixed radius (CR), the size of which depends on the type of spherical head. The transition between the cylinder and the plate is called the knuckle. The steering knuckle is circular.

 

Klopper head

This is a spherical head. The radius of the plate is equal to the diameter of the cylinder to which it is attached. The radius of the knuckle is equal to one tenth of the diameter of the cylinder.

Korbbogen head

This is a hemispherical head, also known as a hemispherical head (DIN 28013). The radius of the disk is 80% of the diameter of the cylinder (CR=0.8 x D0.). The radius of the knuckle is (KR= 0.154x D0).
